Couples with smaller budgets — between $0 and $15K—spend about $8,900 on average, while those in the $15,001 to $40K range typically spend around $26,400. For weddings over $40K, the average jumps to roughly $70,300.
Where you have the wedding matters as well. An average domestic destination wedding is $41,700 and the average cost for an international destination wedding is $43,700, while an average hometown wedding is $32,600.
And the state you’re having it in also affects the cost. The most expensive state to have a wedding is New Jersey, with an average price of $57,000. Rhode Island is next at $51,000, followed by New York at $49,000 on average. The cheapest state to get married is Wyoming, with an average price of $17,000, followed by Utah and Idaho, both with an average price of $18,000.
When it comes to cities, New York tops the list, with the average wedding costing $88,000. Chicago is next priciest at $54,000, followed by Boston and San Francisco ($51,000).
