Area Thieves Are Stealing Catalytic Converters for Their Palladium Content

Central Iowa law enforcement are reporting a rash of catalytic converter thefts. Apparently, thieves are targeting higher profile vehicles like trucks and vans, climbing underneath and cutting out catalytic converters from the vehicles. Reports are that the converters are melted down and the palladium content is sold on the black market for high dollar value.
