When The Beatles released their final song "Now and Then" last year, we thought it'd be the last time we'd hear something new from the famed McCartney-Lennon songwriting duo. Little did we know, Paul McCartney and John Lennon's sons were working on music together.
Like his dad, James McCartney is a singer-songwriter and his latest single "Primrose Hill" was co-written by Sean Ono Lennon.
“I had a vision as a child in Scotland, on what was a lovely summers day. Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind’s eye," James said about the song on social media. "‘Primrose Hill’ is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person.”
Paul also celebrated the release with a social media post, writing: "My son James has a new song out called 'Primrose Hill' - check it out! And lots of love to Sean Ono Lennon who co-wrote the song"
This is only James' second song release since 2016, following February's comeback release "Beautiful." Sean recently released new music of his own, a solo album called Asterisms, and won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short as executive producer for War Is Over!, which was inspired by his father and mother Yoko Ono's music.
This is the first time James and Sean have ever collaborated together, and hopefully it won't be the last. Listen to "Primrose Hill" below.
