Hy-Vee's Disaster Relief Team is Aiding Florida Hurricane Victims

Listen to Max & Amy's conversation with Hy-Vee's Nola Aigner Davis, who is in Florida with Hy-Vee's Disaster Relief Team. Hy-Vee’s Disaster Relief Team provided aid to six different towns in Florida and Georgia that Hurricane Idalia greatly impacted. Teams were spread out over two hours apart to get their missions completed and partnered with the National Guard, Florida Emergency Management, law enforcement and Operation BBQ Relief. We primarily focused on towns on the Gulf Coast side. Here is a breakdown of the aid the team provided so far this week:

Live Oak, Fla.

  • Partnered with Operation BBQ Relief and prepared 30,000 meals
  • Distributed 192 cases of water and 1,000 electrolyte drink mixes

Madison, Fla.

  • Distributed 1,944 20-pound bags of ice, 2,016 cases of water, 14 pallets of paper towels and more than 3,000 electrolyte drink mixes

Cedar Key and Yankeetown, Fla.

  • Distributed one pallet of paper towels, 72 20-pound bags of ice and 84 cases of water
  • Delivered 1,000 meals

Bellville, Fla.

  • Delivered 6,000 meals

Valdosta, Ga.

  • Distributed over 1,500 cases of water to Red Cross Feeding sites
