Getting Pretty Is Therapeutic
One of the worst things about 2020 and the pandemic was the unplanned, temporary breakup between me and my hair stylist. Neither of us wanted to stop seeing each other, but distance forced us apart. I was so desperate at one point, my poor husband stepped in and applied my hair color.
I said then, I would never take professional hair stylists and the work they do for granted ever again. And as 2022 comes to an end, I'm sitting in the chair again today, enjoying the experience and making sure I don't take it for granted.
Is there anything better than having someone else do your hair? I think even guys agree- having someone else cut, shampoo, and style your hair is so relaxing. And I don't know about you, but I feel better when I leave too!
I've been seeing my stylist Kristen at Eleven Elevencherry Salon in downtown Des Moines for at least 10 years. She's a friend, a funny advisor, and of course I love how she does my hair! If it wasn't for Kristen I'd be a gray lady at this point, and since I certainly don't feel that old it's worth every penny to stay the blonde shade I had in my youth.
So here's to you, local hair stylists! May you get through the holiday season making everyone else look good, and have some time to treat yourself!
