Imagine sitting by your radio on this day 75 years ago and hearing this most important news bulletin! On this very day, all those years ago, my Dad was in a B-17 bomber, softening Nazi targets along the shoreline and inland from the Normandy beaches. I wonder if my Grandma was listening to this - worried terribly about her son. Anxious to hear more - ANY - news of the invasion success. Fearful of the outcome. No one could imagine the horror on those beaches - yet the gritty, heroic determination of our forces prevailed on that day that would forever change the face of freedon in the world.
