Bar Owner Takes Money From a Wall to Pay Staff

A bar owner in Georgia has come up with a way to help her employees while their doors are closed. For years, customers have been leaving their mark on The Sand Bar in Tybee Island by writing on a dollar bill and stapling it to the walls or ceiling and owner, Jennifer Knox, decided to take them down and give the money to her staff. It took five volunteers three and a half days to get the cash down and another week to clean and count it. In total, they collected $3,714 and after some regular customers heard about the act of kindness, they donated to the cause. So Knox was able to split $4,104 between four bartenders and two musicians and they were each given $600. “We all look out for each other,” Knox says. “We are all in this together.”
