Rooting For Everybody Black: The Complete List Of Winners At The 2021 Emmys

Last night, the biggest stars in television gathered in Microsoft Theater for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards. Whether it was Kerry Washington presenting an award or Cedric The Entertainer hosting the ceremony, there was no shortage of Black talent on display. However, the list of award recipients didn't necessarily resemble those presenting the awards or conversations on social media. In fact, none of the major acting categories were won by thespians of color. Moreover, the series with predominantly Black casts were not winners in any of the show categories.

"The fact that the 2021 Emmys has so many Black and brown people hosting, and so few winning, is another example of performative 'commitments' to representation. It's not just about who gets a trophy—awards like the Emmys determine who gets their projects funded and more," Color of Change President Rashad Robinson tweeted.

With that said, there were a few bright moments sprinkled throughout the night. RuPaul made history while Michaela Coel won her first Emmy. Not to mention Zoe Jackson picked up an Emmy for her involvement in Hamilton.
