The Age Most Americans Say They Feel Old

Getting older comes with a lot of worries, and Americans’ biggest aging concern is their overall health

While age is just a number, and plenty of us feel much younger than we actually are, there comes a time in everyone's lives when they start to feel old, and now a new survey reveals what age that is.

57 is the age most Americans consider themselves “old.”

Getting older comes with a lot of worries, and Americans’ biggest aging concern is their overall health (39%).

Other top concerns regarding age include:

Wrinkles (36%)

Weight gain (36%)

Gray hair (35%)

Hair loss (34%)

Not being able to take care of themself (34%)

Age spots (34%)

Being seen as “old” (33%)

Financial security (33%)

Losing their independence (19%)

On the positive side, many people are actively preparing for the day they get old.

45% say they are saving money for retirement, with the average person putting away 19% of their monthly income.

For those not saving money for retirement, 34% say it’s because they don’t want to feel old.
