REM's Michael Stipe On How To Prevent the End Of the World

R.E.M.'s 1987 hit “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” recently re-entered the chart. Now, frontman Michael Stipe has released a new video in which he shares four important rules for surviving the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis.

Stipe released a shorter version (which you can see below), and a longer message that includes personal stories about friends dealing with the crisis in Italy, and his two young goddaughters. Both versions kick off with Stipe singing the “It’s the end of the world as we know it” refrain, and include the same four rules, which will be familiar to anyone who's been paying attention to news or social media over the last week or so.

Stipe calls himself a “former pop star”, but he recently shared his first two solo singles. Check out “Your Capricious Soul” and “Drive to the Ocean”below.
