While some people stick to tradition on Thanksgiving, others will go beyond the typical turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes meal.
Curious about what ends up on the holiday table, a Twitter user asked for "weird inexplicable retro family recipes" that get served up at this time of the year.
Delish took a look at the responses,and the social media site delivered. Maya Kosoff kicked the thread off with what her family calls "seafoam salad," which is chock full of lime Jell-O, canned pears, cream cheese, and Cool Whip (see below).
Jell-O came up often, with another user adding how his family would serve it on a bed of iceberg lettuce along with a side of mayo. Only photos can properly explain the bologna cake (also see below).
