Shark Week: Surfer Attacked On Live TV

Professional Australian surfer Mick Fanning had a huge scare as his board was attacked by a shark during the 2015 World Surf League championship's, at the Jeffrey's Bay Open in South Africa.

Recalling the shark attack, Fanning said: ‘I was just sitting there and I felt something just get stuck in my leg rope, and I was kicking trying to get it away. ‘I just saw fins. I didn’t see teeth. I was waiting for the teeth. Fanning punched the shark to prevent further attack ‘I instantly just jumped away. It kept coming at my board and I was kicking and screaming. I punched it in the back.’ Australian surfer Fanning, along with competitor Julian Wilson were both rescued from the shark-infested water by event marshals on jet skis. 

They escaped unharmed, but shaken.
