The Goodman family of Overland Park, Kansas is facing a payment demand of more than $130k. What happened was their kid tipped over a valuable sculpture that was on display at a community center. The family was there for a wedding reception and was saying their goodbyes when--that one time when they were not paying attention...
Anyhow, the family received a letter from an insurance company this week seeking damages for the artwork, valued at $132,000. The insurance company said the family's "failure to monitor [the child] during this loss could be considered negligent", but Ms Goodman said the valuable sculpture should have been better protected.
