NASA and Uber are joining forces to get commuters off the ground.
Uber signed a deal with NASA for its flying car project called "Uber Elevate." The ride-sharing service wants to make vertical take-off and landing vehicles that will fly at a low altitude. NASA is working to develop traffic management for these low altitude vehicles.
The NASA deal is the latest in a series of partnerships Uber has made to launch its flying taxi service, UberAIR. Earlier this year the company said it was working to get flying taxis in Dallas-Fort Worth and Dubai. They just announced Los Angeles will be the third test city. Uber is looking to start testing its flying taxi service in 2020.
