Propane Torch Versus Spiders=Burned Down Home

(KVOA) - A man using a propane torch to kill spiders and burn spider webs underneath his mobile home is suspected of starting a blaze that forced him and an elderly woman out of their Tucson, Arizona home Sunday night.

When firefighters arrived, they say an elderly woman had been carried out of the burning home by her son and neighbors. The woman suffered minor injuries sustained from being carried out.

No other injuries were reported.

It took 23 firefighters 11 minutes to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation although fire officials say they suspect the fire was started by the use of a propane torch to burn spiders.

The Red Cross is assisting the two residents who were displaced by the fire. The estimated damage has not been determined yet.
