Maryland lawmakers are considering a bill that would make it illegal to sell energy drinks to minors.
The bill was introduced by Montgomery County's Kathleen Dumais.
According to NBC Washington, the mother of a teenager who died after drinking two Monster energy drinks spoke to Maryland delegates on Friday. That family is suing Monster.
The executive vice president of the Maryland-Deleware-D.C. Beverage Association, Ellen Valentino, says her group plans to fight the bill. She tells NBC Washington, "Public policy should be based in fact and science, and this bill is based in neither."
